Last week was apples!
Saturday, September 05, 2009

Last week the apples were just ripe enough to start pulling from the trees! It's not quite fall here but the nights are starting to get cooler and it appears that most of the summer heat is starting to fade.

The dry weather has forced the early ripening of many things here. Apples being one of them.

Apples are one of my favorite parts of fall. Apple jelly, apple juice, apple butter and apple pie.

We've provided 2 simple recipes this month for the making of apple jelly and butter, mom's way. In other words, there is no real recipe. You'll know it's right when it's right!

You can get the recipe for the apple jelly here, and the apple butter is here.

Now I'm looking forward to seed from the garden, and pumpkins!! Pumpkin pie, pumpkin butter, pumpkin bread and baked pumpkin with butter.

I hope you enjoy the recipes. If you have any questions, you can ask via facebook or twitter! HomesteadMom on Twitter! or CreativeHomteading on Facebook.
