May Changes and Updates
Sunday, May 02, 2010

As you can see, we've brought the site back to it's old format. Traffic was down. No one could find anything on the other 'ritzy site' and we felt like the focus belongs on content rather than style. So here we are with a few graphic updates.

There are many projects in the works...

The first is the seed starting portable light set up that we built and was published on our facebook page. We'll transform those photos into an article in the next few coming days and post the link on the frontpage of this site.

We have the plans designed for the solar hot water system, and have posted a link on our facebook page to a couple of supporting videos that appear on Youtube. We used them for reference when we designed the solar hot water system.

We'll get the plans all tidied up and scanned and get them up on the site for you shortly. I expect in the next week or so.

I'm currently working on a directory that will give you access to links on animal husbandry, gardening and other related sites and videos that will support your efforts to be more self sufficient.

Hopefully I will be able to get that underway soon. We are hoping that we can also setup a storefront for those people selling handcrafted items and homegrown goodies this summer as well.

We have officially unfollowed, and limited our followers on twitter to exclude many of the promotional gimmicks and marketers so that we're providing higher quality tweets and replies.

We're also planning to move the forums to facebook under the discussion topics. We've grown rather tired of dealing with the spam posts that show up regardless of the security measures and we can't afford to sit and screen every post or member.

We're attempting to update the facebook page and our tweets daily, but this is spring and with it comes a variety of homestead chores. Please be patient with us if we go 'missing' for a day or two. Sometimes juggling the farm, the internet and jobs gets a little hard to balance and we have to prioritize the tasks at hand.

Well, as usual, articles from you guys are welcomed...

Oh, email still isn't getting to many of you, due to the new 'spam rules' imposed by many networks to exclude small single IP sites so we've discontinued the mailing list. Please, take a moment to follow us on Twitter or join our Facebook page for notifications of new postings, newsletters or articles.

Have a GREAT week. Do something good for the earth this week. Recycle, Reduce, ReUse.
