From a Country Kitchen

Our kitchen is always busy! Between meal times, it is used for canning, drying, and freezing food from the garden and fruit trees and for processing meats that come from the chickens, turkeys, ducks, and quail that we raise. Game is processed there from the from hunting/fishing season. Soaps are made and herbal remedies are prepared.

Traditionally the kitchen has always been the heart of the home and in our home, it still is. Meal times are the most important times of the day in our home. Our family gathers around the huge handmade table three times a day. It is here that the day begins and ends.

The lack of formality encourages conversation, and keep us in touch with one another and what is going on in each other's lives and all the major events in life take place around our kitchen table. It is a time for laughter and sharing! It is also here that daily chores are assigned, projects planned, accomplishments are celebrated, heart breaks mended and prayers are said.
